Another natural disaster

Hi,

This morning I heard in radio and saw in the internet the news of a horrifying hurricane that happened in Bangladesh. Mare than 3500 people died and millions lost their homes. That powerful cyclone, Cyclone Sidr, made winds of up to 240km/h. Can you even imagine that? It made me really sad. The main problem in this situation in 3rd world countries is lack of quick response and appropriate reaction for helping survivals. A few years ago in a powerful earthquake in Bam, a city in southern part of Iran, many people died in the first days after the disaster. The reason is that in these countries governmental and private organizations are not ready for helping victims in a proper way. Also they don’t have enough financial resources to do it. Finally, many people will not survive and will die and these cities will never be as same as before. Just compare this hurricane to Katrina Tornado in USA.

Hi behzad. i know what you are talking about and those kind of situation make me mad! I come from a very poor country. In 2005, there was a severe hunger in Niger. It took so many time to receive help from international organisations or other organisms that lots of people died because they had nothing to eat. it was really sad that at the XXIème century, there are those kind of problems. I have the impression that the world is regressing, not evoluating in those cases. I think that it should have an immediate mobilisation in cases of social or natural disasters such as hungers, cyclones and so on.

Hi Behzad,
Some days before the tradegy in Donetsk,Ukraine had happened. It was an mine explosion. A regional emergency ministry spokesman, Oleksandr Soldatov, said 80 miners were confirmed dead and another 20 were missing.
It's very sad... but the biggest problem is sometimes people are not responsible for what they are doing.

What a terrible thing. It seems that disaster alsways happens in the developing gountry, that's unfair. Life is the most important thing in the world. But sometimes the truth is life is more important in rich countries than in poor ones

Sam, I do agree with you. In countries such as Canada, they respect their citizens and even every human being (right and life) more than our countries. If one person dies here, it is the most important thing that happened, however lots of people are dying in developing countries every day without any serious consideration from our governments!
